Bariatric Athlete Hydration Calculator

Get a sip-by-sip hydration schedule designed for your stomach capacity, exercise type, and conditions.

Hydration is one of the most challenging aspects of exercise after bariatric surgery or while on GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro. Standard hydration advice — drink when thirsty, aim for 8 glasses a day — doesn't account for the dramatically reduced stomach capacity after surgery, the altered thirst signals caused by GLP-1 medications, or the increased fluid needs of athletes training at higher intensities.

Bariatric patients can only take small sips at a time — typically 2–8 oz depending on surgery type and how far post-op they are. GLP-1 medication users often don't feel thirsty even when significantly dehydrated. And athletes lose far more fluid through sweat than sedentary people, requiring careful pre-, during-, and post-exercise hydration planning.

How to use this calculator: Select your surgery or medication type, enter your body weight and months post-op or on GLP-1, choose your exercise type and duration, select your weather conditions, then click Calculate. You'll get a complete sip-by-sip hydration plan covering before, during, and after your workout, plus all-day hydration tips.
